About Us

Culture Trunk began with four friends who shared a lifelong bond, classmates from the same secondary school, bound by memories, laughter, and a deep love for their heritage. As the years passed, their paths led them in different directions. One settled abroad, experiencing firsthand the ache of missing home, while the others became seasoned travelers who saw how the world admired African creativity, beauty, and soul.

Across group chats and reunions, a common realization emerged: there was a growing hunger both at home and in the diaspora for authentic pieces of Nigerian and African culture. The kind of items that carry stories, spark nostalgia, and offer a tangible connection to identity.

It started simply. A box of handmade beads sent across borders. A bundle of ankara fabrics carried in luggage. Snacks, shea butter, wooden carvings, and little treasures sourced from markets back home. Each item brought joy, reminding one friend of home and showing the others how much the world appreciated what Africa had to offer.

What began as heartfelt exchanges soon revealed a bigger purpose.

The four friends decided to build something meaningful: Culture Trunk, a platform that celebrates Africa’s richness and shares it proudly with the world. From clothing to trinkets, foods to artisanal pieces, every item is curated to evoke home, spark pride, and showcase the continent’s brilliance.

Today, Culture Trunk stands as more than a marketplace. It is a storyteller. A cultural bridge. A homecoming in a box. A way for anyone, anywhere, to feel connected to the essence of Nigeria and Africa.

And at its heart? Four friends, one shared vision, and a lifelong desire to honor the culture that shaped them.
